G*Funk perform a blistering set of classic funk, soul and rhythm & blues tunes, plus some original material and do so in their own unique & inimitable style, with a true sense of fun. Known to the world’s jazz-funk fans & musicians alike, G*Funk attract big audiences whenever they perform – confirmed by their annual Christmas ‘sell-out’ residency at premier London Jazz club – Pizza Express in Soho. When you take a closer look at the musicians, it’s easy to see why.
The Grainger brothers from Baltimore USA, have a serious international reputation for their fusion material and both have appeared on many heavyweight collaborations. Currently members of the ‘all star’ Paul Reed Smith band, the brothers appear regularly alongside fellow legendary PRS stable mates Carlos Santana, Al Di Meola, Bernie Marsden & Zach Meyers to name but a few.
G*Funk keyboard player Fred White is a rising star on the UK and US jazz scene. Add to this, dynamic ‘front-man’ Miles G, who is only truly at home when playing to a crowd and you have something for everybody; the best live jazz/soul/funk/blues show, performed by celebrated musicians, delivered in a unique and entertaining style.
G*Funk sister group ‘Acoustic Alchemy’ performs all over the world, every year to large audiences, which represents an excellent opportunity for festival organisers, promoters & venues in a given location to capitalise on the fact that G*Funk personnel will already be in town, thus enabling a G*Funk show either before or after an Acoustic Alchemy show. This arrangement represents a significant saving in travel and other costs. Naturally the band is also available independently, for either a one-off performance or residency within a jazz club or similar venue anywhere in the world, schedules permitting.
Promoters and venues should note the significant marketability of this band, to both the general public and international musician fraternity alike; putting aside the band’s fantastic live show; Miles and Gary are both PRS guitar endorsees, (Gary is also a PRS Bass signatory) and all band members are celebrated world class performers with a significant fan base. This creates a whole host of additional opportunities for musical events such as clinics, signings, and public appearances (PAs). Due to the relatively high profile of each band member, they are of immense interest to musicians of all ages and backgrounds.
Individually, G*Funk band members have worked with the following artists & performers; Acoustic Alchemy, Carlos Santana, The PRS Band, Ben E. King, Ronnie Wood, Jools Holland, Snake Davis, Whitney Houston, Earth Wind & Fire, Lonnie Liston Smith, John Schofield, Maysa, Pure Soul, Nancy Wilson, Dennis Chambers, George Duke, Eric Marienthal, Slim Man, and Nelson Rangell to name but a few.
G*Funk’s ‘Soul, Funk & RnB Review’ show; the best tunes, played by the best musicians, delivered in style with more musical talent than you can squeeze onto a stage.
In addition to their own material, G*Funk play tunes by: The Average White Band / Steven Stills / George Benson / BB King / The Meters / Tito Puente / Sting / The Beatles / Dave Matthews Band / The Crusaders amongst others.
