The Banger Factory is the critically acclaimed live collective from London-based trumpeter, composer, and bandleader Mark Kavuma.

Exuding tonnes of joy when witnessed on stage - full of energy, vibe, blues, rhythm, gospel, soul and emotions, they are one of the finest and most exciting live acts on the scene. The Banger Factory is a collective that is contingent upon bringing people a good time. Born in the heart of Brixton, south London, the band has developed and nourished a truly unique and unmistakable sound.

The ensemble explores original material and features some of the most gifted, engaging and masterful musicians on the scene today, including:
Mussinghi Brian Edwards and Kaidi Akinnibi (saxes), Artie Zaitz (guitar), David Mrakpor (vibes), Reuben James (piano/organ), Deschanel Gordon (piano), Michael Schrimpling (double bass) and William Cleasby (drums).

This is a special jazz outfit, well-established and proven. Several years in the making, they now have three very well-received and critically acclaimed albums (including “The Banger Factory ” Ubuntu Music 2019) With the latest one fresh off the press and the first on Mark Kavuma’s Banger Factory Records. “Arashi No Ato” is the newest offering from the band.

“In my head, I wanted it (the band) to be an organization, a force to be reckoned with,” explains Kavuma. “Everybody brings something to the table, whether it’s verbally or musically and everybody has a big part to play.” “What is more, the band brings together and unifies the local London jazz scene. Spreading love and good vibes”.

As a sideman Mark has worked with Jean Toussaint’s Young Lions, the Alan Weekes Quintet, Jazz Jamaica and the Nu Civilisation Orchestra. He has also been featured as a guest soloist with Wynton Marsalis’ Jazz at Lincoln Centre Orchestra and has toured with world music stars Mulatu Astatke and Salif Keita. He has also played with American jazz musicians Barry Harris (piano) and Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts (drums) in New York City.
